Heading overseas

So last January, we got the word that we were being sent into theater (vague reference intended). After arriving at the Army base, we spent about a week getting processed into the system- medical records checked, shots, and death by powerpoint covering information the Army wanted us to know about coming over here. First class transportation ferried us to the different sites around base along with new recruits in training.

At the end of the week, we made it to the terminal where we waited for the flight to board. It was a big room with some comfortable chairs and big screens projecting news from cable news channels and sports. Just like in a civilian terminal, people were scrambling for outlets to plug their personal devices into.

Our long flight started on a rainy evening around 1800 hr; volunteer to help load and unload baggage (like I did) and you get better seating (tip for those who are joining in the future). No skycaps at this airline!

After one stop in Europe, we landed in Kuwait where the fun began…
