Jul 13, 2007- Escape… from Pad A

These pics are from the sidewire escape system at Pad A. You can see the VAB in the background.


7 baskets, each capable of holding 4 people, use gravity to accelerate down the slidewire into the landing area (sandy pit at the base).

One of the proposed escape systems for the next program is a rollercoaster-style escape system–
 Wouldn’t mind getting the T-shirt for that ride, as long as there wasn’t a disaster causing it! Maybe I can volunteer to test it out. You can find out more about the systems being considered at:
