Aug 9, 2007- Full time shuttle worker, part-time hero

Pretty launch today– thanks to everyone for the kind words. We all appreciate your support.
So, went to the SLF (shuttle landing facility) and checked out our vehicle, PURGE 1

We lined up at the approach end of runway 15, which put us about 7 miles from the pad– not the best viewing, but we weren’t there to watch the launch. The convoy lined up and waited for the big moment,

and we got to relax a bit,

until launch time at 1836 hr!

Then, on the way home tonight, I came across a woman from New Mexico and her sister stranded at the side of the road with her kids– they came to see the launch from Orlando. They had been on SR528 for 45 minutes with a flat tire. I stopped and changed the tire for them so they could continue on their way. Just another launch day!
