Dec. 22, 2006- “Its beginning to look a lot like White Sands…”

Everybody sing! Weather looks crappy for KSC and California, so it looks like those guys (and gals) on the recovery team will be headed to New Mexico. The gypsum (hence the “white”) will give us the same problem as the guys in Iraq are dealing with– fine, powdery sand in nooks and crannys of the vehicle. Plus they have to break down the equipment in Cali and move it to New Mexico, set it up, put the orbiter onto the 747, then break everything down and send it back– and they wonder why we prefer to land here.
